Girl Scouts Earn Tree Patch

Saturday morning, bright and early, nearly 60 girls 5 to 14 years old and about 20 of their parents and troop leaders gathered on the lawn at Mueller elementary school in northwest Chula Vista for a group watering event.  The energetic girls and accompanying adults were eager to learn about and water more than 100 trees planted byTreeSD.  The event was co-organized by Michaela Butler, Girl Scouts San Diego, Alexis Vercollone, Girl Scouts Mission Trails Service Unit, and TreeSD.  TreeSD’s watering truck and crew worked with two groups of 30 girls to water all the new trees on six city blocks and TreeSD’s educational team provided a learn-as-you-do education for all the girls on caring for mature trees and new trees.  Each girl earned a Tree Patch for her efforts Saturday.
