September 2019 Leaflet

Help your trees beat the heat!

Our friends at the San Diego Regional Urban Forests Council offer this advise to help your trees thrive in this hot weather.

NOW is the time to water you trees if you haven’t already.
-Water new trees twice a week
-Water established trees deep once a month
-Mulch around the canopy line to keep the soil moist
-Keep watering until we get some rain this winter

Please Welcome the Newest Tree San Diego Team Members!

Mickey Romero is a Certified Arborist and has extensive knowledge of our region and our trees. Mickey worked in the public sector for 40 years and retired last year from the City of Vista as the Public Works Operations Manager.  Prior to Vista, he worked for the City of Mission Viejo, Capistrano Unified School District, Santiago Canyon College, and the Juaneno Band of Mission Indians.  Mickey was also selected to serve on the prestigious City of Irvine “Great Park” advisory board.

Elektra Fike-Data oversees and implements project initiatives with TSD partners and stakeholders. Prior to joining the TSD team, she worked as an environmental consultant helping agencies in both public and private sectors achieve sustainable goals. Elektra is excited to take part in TSD’s mission to positively impact San Diego’s urban forest while fostering relationships with local partners and community groups.

Korrin Davis is a former TSD intern who has returned to help connect hard working, environmentally conscious students with internship opportunities. She is currently a graduate student at Cal Poly Pomona studying regenerative studies and hopes to make an impact within the environmental field.
