Program Summary

For more than a decade, Tree San Diego has worked to grow and strengthen our region’s urban forest. Through Leafing Our Legacy, we’re building on that commitment by donating thousands of trees to residents throughout San Diego County, empowering communities to create a greener, healthier future for generations to come.

Each planting season, Tree San Diego hosts community tree-distribution events where residents can take home trees to plant and nurture in their own neighborhoods. These events connect people with the many benefits of trees while promoting urban forestry education, environmental stewardship, and community engagement.

By making trees more accessible, Leafing Our Legacy helps expand our urban forest, increase access to shade, improve neighborhood livability, and address disparities in tree canopy coverage. Every tree planted is an investment in a more sustainable, resilient, and equitable San Diego County.
