Program Summary
Tree San Diego is partnering with the City of Oceanside to deliver the Canopy for Climate Tree Giveaway Program, helping expand tree canopy across the community. Through this program, eligible Oceanside residents and businesses can receive a tree and the resources needed to plant and care for it successfully. With support from the City of Oceanside, Tree San Diego manages program registration, tree distribution, and participant support.

Trees must be planted on private property within city limits

Expanding Oceanside’s tree canopy also supports implementation of the City’s Climate Action Plan (CAP) by helping cool streets and homes, reduce energy demand, capture and store carbon, and strengthen the community’s resilience to rising temperatures.​

Tree Distribution Methods
Pick Up
Community tree distribution events will be made available for residents to pick up trees after registering for them online. Trees are available on a first come, first served basis.
Voucher - coming soon!
The nursery voucher option allows pre-approved residents to pick up trees at participating nurseries using a code or printed voucher. Available Fall 2026.
Delivery - coming soon!
Curbside delivery for selected participants with limited mobility or without transportation. Please contact info@treesandiego.org for info. Available Fall 2026.
How to Participate
Pre-registration is required. Registration is currently open for the next upcoming tree distribution event. Additional distribution options (vouchers and curbside delivery) will be available later this year. Check back regularly or sign up here for updates. Tree species and availability are subject to inventory, demand, and program funding. Trees provided through the Canopy for Climate program must be planted on private properties; planting in public right-of-way areas is not allowed. Please take note of the Defensible Space Fire Safety Guidelines when planting your tree. ​
