Regional Urban Forestry Master Plan
Summary
The Regional Urban Forestry Master Plan (RUFMP) is a roadmap for how San Diego County’s urban forest can grow and thrive now and for generations to come. Developed by Tree San Diego in partnership with PlanIT Geo, and supported by the Inflation Reduction Act, the RUFMP brings together local governments, community organizations, regional partners, and residents to create shared strategies for planting, managing, and sustaining trees where they are needed most.
As part of this federally funded regional planning effort, input from municipalities and partners will help shape regional priorities, decision-making criteria, implementation roles, and potential funding pathways. The RUFMP is a collaborative effort to support a healthy, equitable, and climate-resilient urban forest across the San Diego region. It is designed to recognize and build on the great work already being done by cities, tribes, regional agencies, and community‑based organizations to grow and care for San Diego County’s urban forest.
