Walter Munk Day ~ Celebrate Our Oceans
Join us for a fun-filled day continuing Walter Munk’s iconic 80-year legacy of daring exploration and discovery through scientific research, education, and ocean conservation.
Walter Munk Day ~ Celebrate our Oceans event focuses on all-things ocean; providing interactive, educational, ocean-related activities for children of all ages and interests; inspiring stewardship for our fragile ocean environment and species who call it home.
It is FREE for exhibitors and attendees alike. We honor the Kumeyaay heritage and culture over more than 10,000 years in La Jolla Shores. They invite everyone to help build, and ceremoniously launch, tule boats and to learn about their traditional arts and crafts.
Children receive stickers in their Passports for each of the exhibitors they visit (60+). Activities include face painting, tours of THE MAP, scavenger hunts, submarine compass navigation, storytelling, Sea Critter Costume Parade, Fire and Lifeguard trucks, art, music,…
