June 2025: CCAC Golden Volunteer Recap

Our amazing CCAC fellows went above and beyond for their Golden Volunteers—planting trees, native plants, and even cacti to restore wildlife corridors to grow greener, healthier communities. Here’s a look at their impact:

  • Monty partnered with Earth Discovery Institute to plant 500 cactus pads at El Monte Preserve, contributing to vital habitat restoration efforts.

  • Sky joined Treedom and Project New Village to plant 5 trees at a new community garden site—bringing shade and fruit trees to Southeast San Diego.

  • Mario returned to Encanto Elementary, helping plant trees that will provide long-term shade and beauty for students and staff.

  • Cate led a planting at the East County Transitional Living Center, adding 5 shade trees to support residents and create a more welcoming environment.

  • Gaby participated in an Arbor Day planting event in Chula Vista, where she helped plant 12 trees in collaboration with the City and SDG&E.

  • Sofia teamed up with Dexcom to plant trees at Surfside Ranch, supporting local food systems and sustainable agriculture.

These projects reflect our fellows’ dedication to environmental justice, equity, and resilience—thank you for being tree-rific!
