As summer winds down, we say a heartfelt farewell to our incredible California Climate Action Corps (CCAC) Fellows—Sky, Monty, Gabi, Sofia, Cate, and Mario. Over the past year, they’ve helped us plant hundreds of trees, lead impactful community events, and expand urban forestry access across San Diego County. Their passion, hard work, and creativity have left a lasting impact on our team and the communities we serve. We’re so grateful for the energy and heart they brought to Tree San Diego!
What Our Fellows Had to Say:
“My fellowship was a great way to serve the community and learn more about the environment. I’ve expanded my skill set in tree planting, educational outreach, and program development—and I’ve been able to connect with the community in a meaningful way.”
— Cate, CCAC Fellow
“I joined Tree San Diego to learn more about sustainability and what I can do as an individual to help my community—specifically through urban forestry and expanding our forest to sequester more carbon.”
— Monty, CCAC Fellow
“To me, being a CCAC Fellow meant working with the community and providing service to those who are underserved.”
— Sofia, CCAC Fellow
“Being a CCAC Fellow is about being an active member of your community—showing up, being a friendly face, connecting people with climate activism, and learning about the environment and the benefits it brings to all of us.”
— Mario, CCAC Fellow
“Being part of the California Climate Action Corps meant giving back and serving in a space I care deeply about—nature. It felt good to be doing something meaningful where I can make an impact.”
— Gabi, CCAC Fellow
“I feel so privileged to spend a year doing wonderful things for my community—contributing to a more positive world and helping combat climate change, even in small ways.”
— Sky, CCAC Fellow
