Planting Roots, Sharing: IRG & Arbor Day Foundation Tree Event
Tree San Diego collaborated with Indigenous Regeneration to host a powerful community planting and distribution event, made possible through the generous support of the Arbor Day Foundation.
We distributed 200 fruit trees to residents—including Black Mission Fig, Galaxy Peach, Pomegranate, and Pineapple Guava—and planted 100 native trees (25 each of Coast Live Oak, Engelmann Oak, Torrey Pine, and Arizona Ash) to strengthen our region’s urban forest with climate-resilient species.
Volunteers from Jack in the Box Foundation and members of the community joined us in the field. Beyond digging and planting, attendees participated in an immersive experience that included learning about indigenous cultural practices and sharing traditional foods, adding depth and meaning to the day’s work!
This collaborative event embodied the spirit of Arbor Day—where environmental action, cultural heritage, and community engagement come together to grow a greener future.
